Cataracts

Cataracts occur when the natural lens inside our eye becomes cloudy. As a result your vision is blurry even when you are wearing your glasses or contacts. Other symptoms of cataracts include trouble with glare, haloes and starbursts, difficulty seeing in dim lighting, and changes in how you see color. Most people will develop some form of cataracts over the course of their life time. With early cataracts treatment usually includes changing glasses prescription if needed and monitoring every year. When cataracts advance to a point that vision is significantly impacted, surgery is performed. When necessary, we refer to a  trusted and experienced cataract surgeon and see you back in our office the next day to make sure things are healing properly. Cataract surgery is very safe and has a low complication rate. While cataracts concern many people, they are in fact very common and easily managed. If you have been told you have cataracts or are concerned you may have cataracts, schedule an appointment with us and our doctors will be happy to discuss this condition with you.
